I walked towards them, but instead of an eternal release from my suffering I just got a sausage
I was planning to sort of coast quietly into Christmas, on account of how many people are either away or too busy with the festivities to read and comment on blogs and also – mainly – the bluurrrrgh, where “the bluurrrrgh” means “I have come down with something and I’m trying to sleep a lot and talk not at all because I’m so tired and it all hurts and I don’t think I can cough any more and still keep all my vital bits inside”.
On the upside, the children have lost their abilities to scream, too. They just sort of squeak helplessly as they throw themselves to the floor and bury their frustrated, imploring, yet impotent faces into the carpet. Or maybe they’ve both simultaneously mastered the art of parody.
But my husband says he misses my sparklingly entertaining posts full of pictures snapped hurriedly with my iPhone. I think the lack of hurried pictures is particularly affecting him, or at least that’s what I’m rolling with tonight, because I’m not feeling sparkly or entertaining. And I recall promising… someone… Christmas lights, so that all works out.
Consider this my Christmas Card from me to you. I hope you are not feeling bluurrrrgh this season, and, uh, well – check it out. Lights.
Oh yeah, and Merry Christmas!

I remembered! It was Free But Fun who showed us the Stockmann Christmas windows in Helsinki and I promised to return the favour.
For more seasonal greetings, Canadian Travel Bugs are giving us a holiday theme for their Tourist In Your Own Town series this month.
And don’t forget to check out Thrifty Travel Mama’s Expat Christmas Series or the Multicultural Kids Christmas Series if you haven’t already. And, like, if you want. No obligation.
Nice pictures. Wish you plenty of joy and good health in the New Year. Cheers đŸ™‚

Hope you’re feeling better. Leave it to husbands to guilt-trip us into blogging even when we’re not feeling well. It’s actually kind of endearing, isn’t it? I can’t imagine having an unsupportive spouse, but know other people whose spouses aren’t even interested enough in what they write or create to read their words. That’s much worse than a husband who misses your blog posts, that’s for sure.

It’s very endearing! It’s definitely nice that he reads, and your right that not all spouses do.

I was hoping my challenge would lift my Christmas spirit too. This is the first year we are not with family for Christmas and going someone unchristmas like. No gift buying, wrapping and 14 hour flight to contend with, but it just seems like something is missing. We are happy to be in Cambodia, but missing family. Luckily we got to Skype today so we could be together even when far away. Hope you are feeling better too.
Merry Christmas.

Ah, the miracle of modern communications technology! Hope you’re enjoying your stay in Cambodia with renewed vigor since the call. And thanks for the meme!

Yes technology makes being far away easier. The Christmas decorations here are tacky and just make us giggle. Certainly an untraditional Christmas.

What a great way to return a picture favour, thanks!
Btw, for once I thought I’d take a proper camera for *good* pics when we went to Stockholm (I’ll get back to that), and realised all 3 of them are slightly broken. So back to the great quality mobile pics, it’s more about the atmosphere anyway… đŸ˜‰
hope poor sad Rudolph found his shiny nose and smile, and glad to hear you are getting your voice back in time for the Xmas celebrations.

Glad you liked it! And sorry all your good cameras were broken!
I really don’t think the phone camera is my limiting factor with photography anyway – it’s the hurriedness – and I’ve seen people with photography skills really take great shots with their phones, so it’s obviously me, not it, and I won’t even bother to haul my better camera along on a trip until the kids are independent enough to let me take at least a minute or so to line up a shot. You’ll just have to put up with things until then! At least my day shots seem marginally better than they were six months ago.

I may just be like you when it comes to photographing skills but I like to blame it on something else đŸ˜‰ but you are right, the moments pass too quickly with toddlers in tow.

Oh no! You have had a bad run! Hopefully some Christmas cake (brandy? wine? whisky?) will cure some of your pains.
I’m a bit better today but have just now hit my limit (hurts a lot to talk!), so A is putting the kids through the shower for me.
Really irritating when you’ve got a sore throat and you have to repeat yourself fifty times before instructions get followed!
